The cast-iron pipe that Seattle-Tacoma International Airport had been using for its food-related waste drainage was only lasting four or five years before it needed to be replaced due to corrosion. Beginning in 2004, airport maintenance authorities were introduced to the Blücher stainless-steel product and now when each restaurant vendor’s contract is renewed, their section of cast-iron pipe is retrofitted to Blücher stainless-steel.
