This course focuses on the importance of proper hand hygiene with stress on limiting the spread of healthcare acquired infections (HAI’s). It addresses health and safety concerns for both staff and patients of poor hand hygiene and surface disinfection and how HAI’s can be effectively reduced by leveraging technology within the room design. The topics explored in this course benefit designers working on projects where surface-borne infection may occur through the splashing of contaminated water and poor hand hygiene, including within the healthcare, food safety, and high traffic area sectors.
